Winning Ways For Facial Hair Removal

Greg Mauro

There are numerous ways for men and women to remove unwanted facial hair. Which is the best for you?

Since the beginning of time, facial hair removal has been on the minds of men and women alike. Over the ages different civilizations have devised their own winning ways for facial hair removal and with the advances made in science and technology facial hair removal techniques have also become specialized. While cavemen are said to have used sharp rocks and shells to remove facial hair the women of Arabia discovered that lacing thread around their fingers and puling out unwanted hair was an effective way to remove facial hair. Here is a look at the winning ways for facial hair removal:

Shaving
Shaving is probably the most popular method of facial hair removal in men and essentially it cuts off the hair from the skin surface with the help of the razor blades. Since the hair is not removed from the root it grows back. For facial hair removal, shaving is required daily and is not recommended for women as it actually stimulates hair growth and leaves the skin rough.

Waxing
Waxing is found to be popular in most cultures and involves the application of a cold or hot wax on the skin surface and then placing a strip of cloth or a synthetic hair removal strip on it and then pulling the strip off in the opposite direction. Waxing removes the hair from the root and thus leaves you hairless for at least a week. Though a little messy and painful it is an effective method of hair removal.

Tweezing
A mechanical method of facial hair removal tweezing requires the use of tweezers to pull out unwanted hair. With advances in science electronic tweezers have made the process more efficient. Tweezing is especially effective when you want to remove some and hair and leaves the rest such as when you are shaping your eyebrows. Like waxing it pulls the hair from its root and is thus more effective than ways that simply cut the facial hair at the surface.

Threading
This technique requires the proficient hands of a beautician who works out the unwanted facial hair by trapping it in the thread laced through her fingers and pulling it out. Though time consuming and painful threading removes hair from the root and thus leaves you without any worries about facial hair for at least a few weeks.

Depilatories
Depilatories are said to have made their mark in North America in 1844 with Dr Gouraud’s ‘Poudre Subtile’ which he claimed was a lost secret of Queen Sheba. The product promised to remove all trace of a moustache. Depilatories are chemicals that change the structure of the hair and remove it from the skin surface. Though messy the method is painless and popular and thus finds its way into our list of winning ways for facial hair removal.

Electrolysis
This method of hair removal requires a fine needle to be introduced into the hair follicle and charging the root to kill it. It is an effective though invasive method of hair removal and is found to be time consuming.

Laser Hair Removal
This technique uses laser beams to kill the hair follicle. Based on the scientific fact that light is absorbed by dark colors and not lighter ones it is focused on the hair follicles that absorb that laser energy until it dies. It is found to be a highly effective method and is a winning way for facial hair removal. The procedure requires at least 2-3 sittings as all the hair doesn’t grow at the same time. And thus the process is repeated a month after each treatment. Laser hair removal is the most advanced method of hair removal and though it is more expensive than the other winning ways for facial hair removal it removes the hair on a more permanent basis and is in fact administered by or supervised by a qualified doctor.
